In 1857, there was a pavilion overlooking the town of Marianské Lázne on the site where the OREA Hotel Monty stands today. The pavilion was built as a tribute to the Greek king Otta, a prominent guest of the local spas, and was named the King Otta Highlands. In 1886, Gaspar Ott opened the Egenlander coffee house there, which later became very famous. About fifteen years later the coffee house was renovated and a new luxury hotel was opened. In 1945 the hotel was re-named Monty after British Marshal Bernard Montgomery.

The hotel is nestled amongst beautiful surrounds on the outskirts of town, just 500 meters from the center and 2.5km from the railway station.
