Italian emergency officials are ending the search for the 16 missing people in the submerged part of the Costa Concordia cruise ship because of the danger to rescue workers.
In response to the Concordia incident, the Cruise Lines International Association, Inc. (CLIA), speaking on behalf of the global cruise lines industry, announced the launch of a Cruise Industry Operational Safety Review.
The “other” cruise lines went into high gear last week to reassure passengers and the industry that all was well. It was a tricky situation – how not to appear to be taking advantage of a rivals’ tragedy and misfortune, while reassuring their own passengers of, (and perhaps soliciting others by), their own exemplary safety and security procedures.
